ZonePerfect Dark Chocolate Bars are some of the tastiest I've tried. The Zone Perfect Dark Chocolate Almond and Double Dark Bars are sensational, the ZonePerfect Dark Mocha is divine, and don't even get me started on the deliciousness of ZonePerfect Dark Chocolate Strawberry Bar. With so many to choose from, I still couldn't help trying a different variety, the ZonePerfect Dark Chocolate Caramel Pecan Bar.
I opened the box, pulled out a bar and unwrapped it, excited based on how much I liked the other flavors. I took a bite of the deliciously dark-colored bar but found myself a little disappointed with the taste. To be honest, this wasn't my favorite flavor. Sure, the dark chocolate was pleasant, but I couldn't taste much caramel or pecan, and the overall effect just came across as too sweet. The caramel layer was too saccharine, and it didn't taste like real caramel to me; not to mention that there was nary a pecan to be seen!
Each 45-gram ZonePerfect Dark Chocolate Caramel Pecan Bar provides 190 calories, 7 grams of total fat, 4.5 grams of which is saturated fat (11% and 23% of the daily value), 9% of the DV for sodium, 1 gram of fiber, 13 grams of sugar, 12 grams of protein, and lots of vitamins and minerals. This bar has the most fat and sat fat of the ones I tried, so that gives it another strike in my book.
When I got an email about trying the ZonePerfect Indulgence Nutrition Squares, I said yes without hesitation. I had already tried the German Chocolate Cheesecake ZonePerfect Indulgence Nutrition Squares and the taste was pure deliciousness, plus the ZonePerfect All Natural Dark Chocolate Nutrition Bars Review are amazing.
This variety of the ZonePerfect Indulgence Squares is described as "a fluffy peanut butter mousse with a smooth chocolaty coating," which sounded delicious to me and my taste buds ... the chocolate and peanut butter combination is one of my favorites. I unwrapped the treat and found a chocolate-coated square which, when I bit into it, revealed a layer of crunch and a layer of peanut butter. To be honest, the taste didn't wow me at first - it seemed a bit artificial, which is never fun. However, after a couple more bites, it grew on me. The texture was mousse-like and chewy at the same time, airy and delicious. The square was hefty enough at 45 grams, to keep me satisfied, too - no small feat.
The Mocha flavored bars that have been reviewed so far on Iateapie.net, Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond Bar and Fiber One Chocolate Mocha Bar, have all gotten rave reviews - so I only expected good things from my ZonePerfect Dark Mocha Bar.
When I unwrapped the bar, I was struck by the intense coffee scent - if you don't like the smell of coffee, then this is not for you, because this smells like the real thing! I took a bite, and was overwhelmed in such a good way. This bar is a heavenly combination of rich dark chocolate and espresso flavor (and yes, espresso is one of the ingredients). Thankfully, it's not overly sweet and in fact, this bar reminds me a lot of dark chocolate-covered espresso beans, which I absolutely adore. Add some vitamins and minerals and some filling protein, and this is a healthyfied version of the candy snack!
Each 45-gram ZonePerfect Dark Mocha Bar provides 180 calories, 8% of the daily value for total fat and a whopping 18% of the DV for saturated fat - high saturated fat is something that ZoneP Bars have in common. There is also 9% of the DV for sodium, 1 gram of fiber, 12 grams of protein, and 13 grams of sugars.
When I got an email asking if I wanted to try the new ZonePerfect Indulgence Nutrition Squares, I said yes without hesitation. I've already expressed my undying love for all things ZonePerfect All Natural Bars (the ZonePerfect Dark Chocolate Nutrition Bars are definitely tops on my list), and I was excited to see what new products the company had come up with.
I decided to try the German Chocolate Cheesecake variety first, because ... well ... it's German Chocolate Cheesecake! The description says these squares feature whipped cheesecake flavor, real coconut and a chocolaty drizzle topped with crunchy nuts. I unwrapped my 45 gram square and took a bite. Mmmmm, this square is chocolaty deliciousness is so good . The bar had a few different layers - one with the cheesecake filling, one with chocolate, and the aforementioned nuts and coconut on the top layer; there was even a drizzle of chocolate to boot! I loved the texture of this bar - chewy and satisfying, with a nice crunch.
I'm a big fan of the Zone Perfect Dark line - the Dark Chocolate Almond and Double Dark Chocolate flavors are fantastic! I recently spotted the Dark Chocolate Strawberry bar the other day and totally made an impulse purchase just to see how a frutier incarnation of the bars would taste.
I opened the package and examined my nutritious version of a chocolate-covered strawberry (hey, I can dream, right)?! It looked dark and rich, and I excitedly took a bite. Mmm ... I liked it a lot, but must say that I didn't Love it. The strawberry flavor was a tiny bit artificial, but the dark chocolate was perfect and the combination was good. One of the many things I like about Zone Perfect bars is that they're pretty big (45 grams) and satisfying for minimal calories; not to mention the fact that they usually taste great too.
They say good things come in small packages, and with plenty of companies trying their hand at smaller-size nutrition bars (like Luna, Clif, PowerBar, and ProMax), I was curious as to which products offer the best nutrition and taste. More importantly, which bars are big enough to fill you up while offering a low calorie content?!
I bought a box of Zone Perfect Snack Size Chocolate Caramel Cluster Bars to try. At $5.99 for a box of 8, these little treats aren't cheap, but they certainly won't break the bank either. The picture on the box is quite appetizing - swirls of chocolate and caramel candies mix together for a tempting treat. But the big question, as always: would it taste as good as it looked?
I opened the box and took out a 20.5 gram mini-bar. I was pleased to find that it was covered in delicious chocolate. The texture was pleasingly rich and chewy, which made me feel like I was eating a lot more than I actually was. Furthermore, the chocolate and caramel tastes were perfection - creamy, rich, and delicious. I savored the little bar, eating it in four bites as opposed to 2 (as I was tempted to do), and was pleasantly surprised that while I enjoyed the bar, I didn't need to reach for another (I wonder if eating it slowly and savoring it had something to do with that)?
