After experiencing the deliciousness of Turtle Mountain Purely Decadent Dairy Free Cherry Nirvana Ice Cream, I absolutely had to try another flavor. When I discovered Purely Decadent Dairy Free Mocha Almond Fudge at Target (on sale), I was immediately dreaming of a delectably creamy sweet treat.
No suspense - my dreams definitely came through on this one . From the Turtle Mountain website: We are taking coffee to an all-new level with this one. Luxurious fudge sauce and roasted almonds swirled in a rich coffee flavored non-dairy frozen dessert. You may be tempted to have it for breakfast. Hello - they aren't lying. Each pint sized container houses coffee flavored ice cream with copious swirls of chocolate fudge and tons of almond chunks mixed throughout. There is no shortage of the toppings, and i's just one delicious bite after another. You would never guess that there is no milk in this creamy treat.
I have experimented many times in the past with coconut milk. It makes a GREAT substitution in vegan treats. It has a wonderful creamy, rich, smooth flavor, which is why I was so excited to see a 'yogurt' made from this stuff by Turtle Mountain. So Delicious Coconut Milk is a dairy free, soy free, vegan yogurt alternative made with live active cultures.
The taste of the Vanilla flavor is phenomenal. It had the perfect vanilla flavor with an extra 'kick'. The underlying hint of coconut added a richness to the flavor that is unlike any other yogurt I have tried. You will not be disappointed in your choice of this. And, if you've never tried anything with coconut milk before, don't be scared. There are no unusual or off putting flavors.
As soon as I saw the Passionate Mango flavor of So Delicious Coconut Milk 'Yogurt Alternative', I was all over it. Since I'm from the islands, I am intrigued by all things tropical, plus I like bold flavors. The passionate mango 'yogurt' has a bright vibrant yellow color, which immediately makes you aware that this is going to be a bold flavor. And, oh yes, it was.
This flavor is quite tart as the passion fruit comes through more than the mango - but the mango is still omnipresent as an undertone. I happen to love tart flavors, so this yogurt was right up my alley . I put it to the ultimate test and gave it to a picky 9 year old. The bright yellow color didn't scare him off, but he was very skeptical when he read that it was "coconut milk." Nonetheless, he is a good sport and agreed to try it, and he really liked it - although he too commented on the tartness. It's also not as thick as most yogurts - in fact, it reminded me a little bit of a yogurt smoothie. I loved this and am all too happy to have discovered a dairy free, soy free, gluten free and vegan yogurt alternative.
Turtle Mountain, makers of So Delicious products and Purely Decadent Ice Cream, are releasing a new non-dairy alternative to milk, So Delicious Coconut Milk. I was beyond excited to review this and it was one of the rare times I actually contacted a company to get a sample of a product since it's not in stores yet.
I'm lactose intolerant, and have had to be a lot more vigilant about it lately. I was actually using Rice Dream Rice Drink, when So Delicious Coconut Milk showed up on my doorstep. I tried it out the next morning with a bowl of cereal (Honey Nut Cheerios if you're curious - thought it would be something more exciting didn't ya!) and it rocks!
There is NO odd taste or off-flavors and just a light hint of sweetness. It was a little more flavorful than Rice Dream, and I totally love it. In addition to being dairy free, So Delicious Coconut milk is also soy free and certified gluten free. I've had it with my cereal every morning for the last 5 days and have been nothing but pleased.
I am not on a dairy free diet, but I enjoy branching out and trying different things and So Delicious Dairy Free Chocolate Peanut Butter Frozen Dessert is the exact reason why. It is made with organic soy milk, certified vegan, and is cholesterol and dairy free and it is oh SO Delicious indeed! Other adjectives that I could use - amazing, phenomenal, delicious ... I'm sure you're getting the picture.
The taste resembles what I would imagine mashed up peanut butter cups piled into a cone(or bowl) to taste like. MMMM! Furthermore, there is no weird after taste from the soy products. This utterly creamy concoction is a complete masterpiece. Another plus is that after eating a half cup of this delicious chocolate-peanut butter creation smashed into a crunchy cone, I am completely satisfied (that's not to say that I don’t eat more than one cone of this mouth watering creation form time to time). Even another plus is that this dairy free “ice cream” does not melt as fast as traditional ice cream. As a matter of fact, as it sits out of the freezer, it just gets smoother (but don't leave it out too long).
On a side note: My carnivorous family, who is completely opposed to any food item that is labeled vegan or soy or anything else they do not consider "normal" helped me to finish off this ice cream carton in all of two days.
