Popcorn, Indiana Gourmet Kettlecorn prompted a plethora of thoughts to run through my mind as I stood in the aisle staring at the bright red bag sitting upon the shelf. The intriguing packaging states that this sweet and salty snack food is authentic (whatever that is supposed to mean), all-natural (that's good), packed fresh daily (... aren't all products that come from a busy plant that's open every day?), provides 16g of whole grains per serving (love that), is produced in Popcorn, Indiana (that's cute) and contains no trans fat (I would hope not). After all this thinking, and noticing that there was a two for one sale was going on, I picked up two bags and hoped for the best.
The popcorn is about the same shape and size as what you will find in your average bag of microwave popcorn. What sets this corn apart is the subtle sugary coating - the coating is subtle, but the sweetness ... not so much. Some of the pieces have little clusters of sugar, while others have no coating at all; but, for the most part, the coating is only a sheer covering that gives the kernels a glossy caramel color. If you are in the mood for a sweet, crunchy snack, Popcorn Indiana Gourmet Kettlecorn might be just the thing for you. I say "might" because the sweetness can be a bit overwhelming at times.
