The description of the Belgium Chocolate Chip Organic Food Bar on their website says, "Legend has it that Albert Einstein was eating chocolate when he came upon the theory of relativity. While chocolate may be good for the mind, we know it's good for the body. In fact, dark chocolate is one of the most potent antioxidants in nature, with a very high ORAC factor ("Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity" is a fancy term for how much a food protects you against free radical damage) ... While eating our ORGANIC FOOD BAR Chocolate Chip™ may not lead to historic discoveries, it will lead to a healthier body and a better mindset."
That description made me want to tear into the bar immediately, so I got to work opening the wrapper, and taking my first bite non-too tentatively. Unlike the Organic Food Bar (Wild Blueberry), this variety was way too datey for my taste.
This one is made with almond butter, like the Wild Blueberry version, but unlike that fruit-flavored bar, here dates are the second ingredient. Not my favorite. Chocolate and dates just don't go together very well in my book. It seems to me that dates go best with fruit and maybe nuts - what do you guys think?
Anyway...the one thing I absolutely loved about these were the chocolate chips. Love that it added chocolate and flavor.
I'll be the first to admit that the brand name - Organic Food Bar - isn't incredibly inventive, but really, it tells you all you need to know: that these bars are 100% organic. As a chocoholic, one flavor that I was immediately drawn to was the Organic Food Bar One (Chocolate Macaroon Crunch). From the website, "Our Macaroon Crunch harkens back to the homemade macaroons that mom made, the ones you couldn't wait to eat before they cooled. But, Organic Food bar One, Chocolate Macaroon Crunch, contains something very special: probiotics. Each bar is packed with over one billion probiotic cultures, more than ten times the active cultures found in yogurt!"
I opened up my bar and was greeted with the pleasant aroma of coconut. Unfortunately, I didn't see that much chocolate, and when I bit in, I tasted predominately coconut too. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE coconut but more chocolate would have been nice. That said, this tastes wonderful and it's absolutely delicious. The coconut is moist but not sticky, and the texture is just chewy enough without breaking your jaw or just melting away in your mouth.
The delightfully decadent taste of this Organic Food Bar had me a little fearful of looking at the nutrition facts. So, of course I enjoyed every last bite before I turned the wrapper over. I found that each 45 gram bar provides 210 calories, 10 grams of fat, 7 grams of which is saturated (15% and 35% of the daily value), 6 grams of fiber (24% of the DV), 19 grams of sugar, and 2 grams of protein.
Organic Food Bar products are 100% certified organic. The Organic Food Bar had a rave review for the taste, but I wanted to try something a little different, so I opted for the Organic Food Bar Oaaatmeal! Apple Pie Kids Bar. The Organic Food Bar people say that this is, "just like Mom's great tasting apple pie prepared fresh daily and loaded with mouth-watering certified organic apple, cinnamon and raisins."
One thing they don't tell you is that this bar is going to be sticky, chewy, gooey, and yes, apple-licious. This does taste sort of what I would imagine a blended apple pie might taste like in bar form. I've mentioned that I don't usually go for fruit bars, but this was good. I loved the combination of apples, spices, oats, and cashew butter. Yum

Each 38 gram Organic Food Bar Oaaatmeal! Apple Pie Kids Bar provides 139 calories, 5.5 grams of total fat which includes 1 gram of saturated fat (8% and 5% of the DV), 2.5 grams of fiber (10% of the DV), 9.5 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein.
Organic Food Bar products are 100% certified organic, and they boast that :the World's first organic bar is now the World's best selling organic bar." Well, I tell you, I couldn't wait to try this out. I eat a nutrition bar practically every day, and my only problem with this brand was trying to decide which variety to try first from the sample pack the company sent me. I opted for the Organic Food bar Wild Blueberry flavor first, because each bar has at least 20% wild, whole, organic blueberries. Oh - and did I mention that this bar is vegan and 98% raw too?!
