As a triathlete, I am constantly in search of easy, portable, yummy sources of protein. I have ALWAYS been a big fan of peanut butter (so yummy), so I decided to give almond butter a whirl after seeing its popularity on many food blogs. The brand I chose was MaraNatha Almond Butter, because of the stellar review of MaraNatha Organic No Stir Creamy Peanut Butter.
I slathered the almond butter on some whole wheat bread, jumped on my bike, and went for a ride. Midway through my long ride, I took out my sandwich for some healthy re-fueling. AMAZING! This stuff almost ruined peanut butter for me. The spread is creamy, nutty, and smooth. It tasted very fresh and natural (as it should since the only ingredient is almonds). After my sandwich, I finished my ride strong so I'm going to the say this was an excellent on the go fuel.
The supermarket is my haven, a place where my spirits are lifted and my imagination goes crazy. I absolutely love finding and trying new products that hit the shelves. When I saw MaraNatha Organic No Stir Creamy Peanut Butter on sale for $2.69, I knew it was time for a review. After placing the prized jar into my cart, I noticed a $1.00 off coupon hanging on a string that was tied around the lid. What a deal!
First and foremost is the ingredient list (USDA Organic): Dry Roasted Peanuts, Palm Oil, Unrefined Cane Sugar and Salt.
My goodness, do those dry roasted peanuts make a difference. The opened jar literally smells like a handful of roasted peanuts straight from the field. Furthermore, the texture is utterly smooth and creamy; which increases the ease of spreading and makes for a delight when the sandwich (or spoon) comes into contact with mouthwatering taste buds.
The nutrition profile is not much different from your average peanut butter, with 2 tablespoons providing 190 calories, 24% & 14% of the daily value for total and saturated fats respectively, only 3 grams of sugar and 7 grams of protein.
