Having fruits in any kind of granola or energy bar is not really my thing - I'm more of a chocolate and peanut butter flavor type girl. Nevertheless, I've been giving these types of bars more of a shot and that's how I ended up with an Almond & Apricot KIND Fruit & Nut Bar. I do love almonds, I reasoned, and the bar did look pretty darn delicious.
Another thing that attracted me to this was the all-natural (and gluten free) ingredient list: almonds, apricots (apricot paste, glycerol [vegetable based], pectin, apple fiber, citric acid), honey, shredded coconut, coconut chips, glucose, puffed rice, chicory fiber, and soy lecithin. This bar is also wheat-, gluten-, and dairy-free, plus it's made with non-GMO ingredients to boot.
Now let's talk taste. I've got just one word for you: yummylicious! The bar is crunchy, thanks to the almonds and puffed rice, and it's sweet without being overwhelming. I really liked the apricot flavor, so I decided that maybe I just don't like raisins and such. I also LOVED the whole almonds and coconut in the bar. I can't believe they don't advertise the coconut! It's so delicious!
My preference for nutrition bars run towards those that have all natural ingredients, rather than for ones that are low carb, high protein etc. KIND Fruit+Nut is a line of all-natural fruit and nut energy bars made with wholesome ingredients. There are many flavors to choose from including Banana Oat bran, Macadamia & Apricot,Almonds & Apricots, Nut Delight,Almond & Coconut,Sesame & Peanuts in Chocolate, and Walnut & Date. I settled on testing out the Fruit and Nut Delight flavor. KIND says, "this nutrient-packed health cocktail of almonds, Brazil nuts, peanuts and walnuts is a good source of dietary fiber, magnesium, copper, folic acid, vegetable protein, potassium, and vitamin E."
This all natural, gluten, wheat and dairy free bar was very satisfying. It had a wonderful sweet nutty aroma and the taste was even better. The fruit and nuts mingled together perfectly. It was just the right balance between sweet and savory. The ingredient list was pretty simple and straight forward: Mixed nuts [Peanuts, almonds, Brazil nuts walnuts] dried fruits (raisins, apricots (apricot paste, glycerol (vegetable based), pectin, apple fiber, citric acid], dates), honey, glucose, puffed rice, linseed, chicory fiber, soy lecithin.
