GG Scandinavian Crispbread was a last minute add-on to my last groceries. These looked like nutrition powerhouse, with 5 grams of fiber (20% of the daily recommendations) per cracker. I have a thing for fiber, as in, I like it a lot. My absolute favorite cereal is Fiber One. On top of that, I eat fruits and veggies in massive quantities every day, and the pitas I get contain fiber as well. I get more than the recommended amount, unlike the majority of America, yet I am still somehow attracted to fiber-ific foods, and just new healthy products in general, and enjoy trying them out.
I had high hopes for this treat, but found myself fairly disappointed. I took my first bite, and cardboard was what came to my mind. Well, a mix of cellophane and cardboard. It was incredibly crunchy, dry, and hard to chew. My mouth was dried out in two seconds flat. I put some mustard on, which didn't help. Then I tried it with salsa, and it simply tasted like salsa on cardboard. When I literally soaked it through in the salsa, the taste and texture improved slightly, but I was still not impressed. It seems the only way to enjoy this is to have it heavily altered, damp, and with a good amount of toppings to mask the flavor. But why go to such lengths to alter something you don't like? I am of the staunch opinion that eating should be something one enjoys.
