There have only been 2 reviews of Brown Cow yogurts here on Iateapie.net, and so far, the ratings have been pretty mediocre. But, despite my experience with the tasteless Brown Cow 0% Fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt, I was intent on giving the brand another shot. Sometimes one flavor tastes horrible, while another one shines, so I decided to try their all natural, Strawberry on the Bottom Greek Yogurt.
I checked out the ingredients list while I was in line at the store, and it definitely improved my outlook - real strawberries - oh yes! As soon as I got home the container, I stirred up the rich-looking strawberries from the bottom, and hoped for the best. I took a bite and ... delicious - color me impressed Brown Cow.
Because this is Greek yogurt, it's thicker than the regular stuff (although not as thick as Fage) and it tasted, well, real. Like real strawberries and sugar in yogurt. I guess I'm so used to artificial sweeteners that I sometimes forget what real sugar tastes like! The entire 5.3 ounce package was delicious and satiating.
We haven't reviewed many Brown Cow Yogurt products (yet) here on Iateapie.net, so when I saw the Brown Cow All Natural Vanilla Greek Yogurt, I decided to give it a go in lieu of the usual Fage or Chobani. The Brown Cow website says, "our authentic straining process removes the liquid (whey) from the yogurt to create a stick-to-your-spoon thick and rich Greek treat with about twice the protein of other yogurts and less lactose."
Personally, I found the taste to be kind of ... blah. Maybe I'm used to sweeter yogurts (or ones where I sweeten them to my own tastes), but the vanilla flavor was really subtle and the sweetness was underwhelming. Don't get me wrong, this is a big step up from the taste of plain Greek yogurt, but it just wasn't my cup of tea. I think I'll stick with the plain yogurt and dress it up in my own ways (using Splenda, honey or jelly).
