Frozen yogurt is a favorite treat of mine, but sometimes the ingredient list looks like the recipe for a scientific experiment. Therefore, when I spotted Blue Bunny All Natural Frozen Yogurt, I decided to give it a try. I picked up a container of the Strawberry Bananaflavor, which is composed of Milk, Fat Free Milk, Sugar, Strawberries, Cream, Inulin, Bananas, Egg Yolks, Carob Bean Gum and Cultures.
I was pretty pumped to end my day on this particular sweet note. I scooped the light pink and white swirly creation into a crunchy cake cone and took my first taste. Oh boy! There is a strong background of natural banana flavor, which mixes with the delightful strawberry flavor for a banana split-like taste sensation. Each utterly smooth and creamy bite is reminiscent of soft serve ice cream, which would cost $3.99 for one serving at a frozen yogurt shop (you can get the whole tub of Blue Bunny for that). To make things more interesting, there are hunks of strawberry in select bites, which add a bit of texture to the smooth and swirly goodness.
Blue Bunny Double Strawberry Sedona Frozen Yogurt Granola Sandwiches is part of their "Lighter Options" line of products. These are "made with creamy strawberry low fat frozen yogurt with thick swirls of strawberry fruit filling sandwiched between two chewy honey oat granola wafers."
I saw it next to all of the other tempting frozen treats on WalMart's shelves, and at $3.50 for a pack of 6, I couldn't pass them up. When I unwrapped one, I was pleasantly surprised that these sandwiches are quite thick and large enough to satisfy any sweet craving you may have. The light pink frozen yogurt is sandwiched between two soft, thin oatmeal cookies. The perfectly sweet strawberry yogurt has swirls of vibrant strawberry fruit filling throughout that add a burst of flavor. Once the creamy, smooth yogurt melds together and slides down your throat, the soft oatmeal cookies steal the show. The only drawback to the delicious soft cookie base is that you may find it somewhat messy to eat one of these frozen treats by hand (which kind of defeats the supposedly portable nature of your typical sandwich). However, this will encourage you to plate up your dessert and enjoy every bite to the fullest. These were so good that I had to force myself from returning to the freezer to get another .
Blue Bunny Ice Cream Bars products have gotten mixed reviews here on Iateapie.net. The Blue Bunny Orange Dream Bar got the 5 kiss seal of approval, while the Sweet Freedom Strawberry Lites Ice Cream Bar only got three stars. When I saw the Blue Bunny Health Smart Fudge & Vanilla Fudge Bar in a vending machine, I decided to get it and see whether it fell in the "excellent" or "so-so" category.
The individual bar I bought was $1.75 (horrendously expensive!) but that's what you get from buying it from a vending machine! I would think that the price for a box is much more reasonable. I reluctantly parted with my $$ and selected my ice cream bar. The packaging was very appealing, depicting a large, vanilla-fudge swirled bar; unlike so many other products, this was a realistic depiction. It was certainly much less icy than some other fudge bars I've had, and the chocolate was rich and not artificial tasting. Overall, I was highly impressed with how creamy and chocolaty this treat was, especially for a fat-free, no sugar added product.
Cheesecake is one thing that makes me swoon. I eat it, slowly, savoring every rich, delicious bite one mouthful at a time. But alas, the calories, the fat - yikes! This makes it only a special occasion type of thing (that and the fact that not just any cheesecake will satisfy my palate). My love of good cheesecake is seconded by my love of ice cream & frozen yogurt. Combining the two to make a delicious dessert - well, that would mean that Blue Bunny Strawberry Cheesecake Fat Free Frozen Yogurt would have a lifelong fan.
Blue Bunny - I love the sleek, elliptical shape of the packaging. The frozen yogurt does indeed tasted like cheesecake, and there was just the right amount of strawberry swirl. Every now and then, I tasted a little more iciness than creaminess, but the frozen yogurt was fairly creamy considering it's fat free.
After a recent trip to the grocery store, my dad returned with a tub of Blue Bunny No Sugar Added Reduced Fat Banana Split Ice Cream which he bought for $4.99. I was really skeptical at first since I've had Blue Bunny ice cream before and I definitely preferred Breyer's slow-churned. But then, when I read the description of "Real pineapple and cherry pieces, vanilla ice cream, a strawberry-banana ribbon and a fudge ribbon, and a medley of mixed nuts" I could not WAIT until desert time.
After my dinner, I quickly grabbed this tempting tub of ice cream, and to my delight, it was amazing . Every bite was simply divine. The ice cream was light - the banana flavor wasn't overwhelming allowing the strawberry to shine through and then there was a note of fudge tantalizing your taste buds every now and again. I could taste the cherries and the crunchiness of the nuts in every bite. Did I already mention that this was delicious?!
