This resulted in a short hospital stay and the inability to eat anything much for a week. The only thing that I could ingest with any regularity was tea. Luckily, Lipton has sent me a sample of their White Tea with Island Mango & Peach Flavor, so I was fully stocked.

The first thing I noticed was the pyramid shaped tea bags and the material is sort of like fine-mesh. Fancy. I enjoyed the light and subtle taste of peach, but I couldn't detect any hint of a mango flavor. As subtle as this tea is, after I drank a cup, there was an a slight acidic after-bite.
...

Quaker previously came out with a Breakfast Cookie which I thought was Diettrash (read the review). Seriously, a cookie - for breakfast? I don't care if has 20% of the RDA for fiber, a cookie should never be considered a breakfast item. In fact, I can get almost 3x the fiber (and less calories) from 1 cup of Fiber One Cereal.

Thankfully, Quaker decided to put another spin on the whole breakfast cookie thing, and came up with Quaker Morning Minis, which are also supposed to be a good source of fiber. These are, according to Quaker, "chewy, bite sized cookies" but actually they look more like little chunks of cookie. I bought a box of the Cinnamon Sugar & Oats variety, which comes with 6 pouches with 5 mini-cookies each.

They were sweet, but the combination of a heavy oats and cinnamony flavor was not what I would describe as delicious. In fact, these can't touch(Uncle Wally's Smart Portion Oatmeal Raisins Cookies in terms of taste.
... I tried the Five Cheese Tomato which is made with a tomato basil sauce and ... what else but 5 cheeses, namely asiago, parmesan, mozarella, white and yellow cheddar. I put it in the toaster oven for 10 minutes and it came out looking exactly like the picture on the box.

The first bite was delicious and it kept delighting me the more I ate. It was cheesy (of course) and the sauce is not too heavy. I also really liked the thin crust. The folks at HeatEatRview hated it and called it bland, and I usually agree with them, but on this one I differ. I liked the fact that it was light and not greasy.
Another plus to the box is its composition of 100% recycled paperboard, so into my grocery cart it went.

After about 10 minutes of preparation, a big bowl of whole wheat elbow noodles covered in an all natural mild cheddar cheese sauce tempted my grumbling tummy. The sauce gives the noodles a wholesome white sheen and the flavor is not too "cheesy", but it is enticing and delightful. It tastes more like a homemade noodle dish than a fluorescent, artificially flavored macaroni and cheese. In fact, the white color and light flavor reminded me a bit of Alfredo sauce. Additionally, there is just enough sauce to coat the noodles: no more, no less.
... There's more. It seems that with the name change came a lower price because I was able to score this South Beach Living Garlic Herb Chicken for only $2.14 (at WalMart) - South Beach meals are normally more expensive than the others as I can never seem to find them for less than $3.50 even when on sale.

This Garlic Herb dish has "white meat chicken strips with garlic & herb sauce & green beans almondine." Almondine is a culinary reference to garnished with almonds. This meal is really nondescript - like what you would expect a typical tv dinner of the past to be. I liked the lightly seasoned garlic and herb sauce which was not too garlicy. The "white meat strips" were tender and tasty and the green beans finished the meal out nicely, but they weren't particularly firm and fresh tasting. I only got a taste of the almonds at the end. This meal was just 'okay' and certainly worth $2, but that cheap price is the only reason I would buy this again.
... Additionally, they also come in 100 portion packs, which totally sold me. I bought a box (with 6 packs) of Oatmeal Cookies (my favorite kind). I tore into one of the packs and was a bit shocked that there were only about 7-8 small cookies about 1-1.25 inches in diameter.

Although they are small, they are definitely tasty and not too sweet. There seemed to be raisins in each one, and not a very strong oatmeal taste, which is actually a plus - I don't want my cookies to remind me of oatmeal.
... I absolutely loved Diet Lipton Green Tea with Citrus, so when I heard about their latest White Tea flavor, Diet Lipton Peach Papaya White Tea, I jumped at the chance to try it.

It did not disappoint. There is an obvious peach flavor which goes well with the slight tartness that's also present. I also really liked the shape. Each "mini smart cake" is a small disc shaped oval, about 1.5 inches in diameter - the size of a potato chip.

I looked more closely and saw, "No Sugar Added, Whole Grain, Healthy for Your Heart, Made with Flax Seeds and Plant Sterols" - all on the front panel. How could I not buy this instead? So I grabbed a box and into my grocery cart it went.

The next morning, it took me all of 2 minutes to prepare this, and it was really delish . The directions are to add 1/2 cup of water, stir and microwave for 2-3 minutes. That will result in a very THICK oatmeal, so don't be afraid to add more - I usually add about 3/4 cup. The oatmeal has a natural, fresh taste - not as sweet as some other oatmeals, but I didn't miss it. There are enough cranberries sprinkled throughout to add a pleasant contrasting flavor in every few spoonfuls. It's also very filling - I have been having this oatmeal every morning for breakfast, and I don't even think about food until lunch time.
... But it looks like Weight Watchersflipped the script and came out with a variety of more exotic yogurt flavors, like White Chocolate Raspberry, Boston Creampie, Cherry Cheesecake, Key Lime Pie and more (see all the flavors at their website). I spotted the Amaretto Cheesecake in the grocery store and quickly scooped it up. Weight Watchers says, this has "the creamy richness of cheesecake with a subtle hint of amaretto."

According to WiseGeek.com, amaretto is an Italian liquor flavored with parts of fruits that imbue the liquor with an almond flavoring. The word amaretto means "somewhat bitter." I give kudos to Weight Watchers for trying to be different, but there was no trace of amaretto in this - not even a hint as they put it. There was however a rich sweetness and cheesecake essence. While this won't replace any of Cheesecake Factory cheesecakes (can anything top that?), the flavor is there and it delivered.
...

I have many fond childhood memories of making caramel corn at Christmas, munching on caramel apples at the fair, and plotting attacks on the bowl of caramel oatmeal cookie dough my mom would whip up for the neighbors. When I spotted Diet Pepsi Caramel Cream on sale, the inner caramel-holic emerged and I snatched it up.

I rushed home, threw the rest of the groceries haphazardly into the fridge, popped the tab on my new found caramel soda, inserted my customary pink straw, and took a sip. Then I took another. Before I knew it I was staring contemplatively at an empty 12 oz. can, trying to put my finger on its unique flavor. It's definitely sweeter than a normal diet Pepsi but it didn't bring up any caramel nostalgia until after quite a few sips. Even then it was more like a slight aftertaste rather than a full on creamy flavor.
... There's more.

Soup is like comfort food to me so when I was feeling like I could use a little pick me upper, I went in search of something that seemed to be full of flavor but wouldn't cause me to blow my sodium intake for the day. While I was perusing the soup aisle I spotted Pacific Natural Foods Organic Creamy Tomato Light Sodium Soup.

The first ingredient is organic reduced fat milk, followed by filtered water and organic tomato paste. These ingredients fuse together to form a wonderfully slightly creamy texture. A sweet blend of spices shines through and the tomato flavor is delicately enhanced by organic cane sweetener, sea salt, cheese flavor, garlic powder, onion powder and white pepper. This soup is certainly not full of fattening thick creams, but it is also not just the average watery tomato soup. However, it is not a meal in and of itself. Therefore, I played around with it and every time it left me very pleased.

A big bowl of this soup was the picture perfect accompaniment to a warm, gooey grilled cheese. Another tasty way to utilize this soup is to add a mixture of fresh or frozen veggies before heating to add some crunchy bulk. Furthermore, add pasta, tortellini, cheese...the possibilities are endless! My favorite thing to do so far is to make a pasta sauce using equal portions soup and red sauce; the result is a robust and creamy creation. Regardless of your chosen addition (or lack of), this tomato soup will tantalize your taste buds, and you will not miss the sodium.
...
