Yoplait Light fat Free Yogurt was the first brand of fat-free yogurt that was edible in my opinion. Since I started having them many years ago, more and more palatable "fat free" yogurt brands and flavors have come along that have delighted my taste buds. Lately, I have been enjoying Greek yogurt, in particular, Better Whey of Life Plain 'n Tart Protein Yogurt and Chobani Plain 0% Yogurt. But as I was perusing the supermarket aisles recently, I spotted a few varieties of Yoplait Greek Yogurt. Its $.99 price tag is a bit less than your average cup of Greek yogurt and I knew it was worth a try. Since Tanya already provided a review of the Plain Yoplait Greek Yogurt, I decided to get the Strawberry flavor.
Unfortunately, things were just not clicking for me. While it was thick and creamy, it was less so than most other Greek yogurts, and it was also a bit gritty from the strawberry fruit puree that outline the subtle flavor profile. I have to say that this was not one of my favorite Greek yogurts ... it wasn't horrendously bad, but it really wasn't ... memorable.
Each 6 ounce container of Yoplait Strawberry Greek Yogurt provides 130 calories, 18 grams of sugars & 12 grams of protein.
The ingredients list includes, cultured pasteurized grade A nonfat milk, milk protein concentrate, sugar, strawberry puree, Kosher gelatin, lemon juice concentrate, colored with beet juice concentrate, calcium chloride, vitamin acetate, vitamin D3.
I love that punch of protein, but I just wish that the overall mouth feel of the yogurt lived up to my expectations. If your yogurt fix has to come in an ultra thick and creamy format, I might suggest that you opt to leave Greek yogurt to another company such as Voskos, Chobani or Fage.
