Yoplait, for the most part, has been my favorite brands of yogurt because they have a nice creamy texture and natural flavor. Upon hearing that they released their Thick & Creamy line as a Light version, I decided to give it a try. The regular version is just as the name says, thick and creamy, but a 6 ounce container has 190 calories and 28 grams of sugar, while this Light version is only 100 calories.
When I opened my tub of strawberry yogurt, I was met with a solid block! It wasn't until I spooned some out that I noticed a wobbliness to it that seemed familiar. I thought about it for a minute, and that's when it hit me. This looks like: Plain yogurt + Sugar-free Jello = Yoplait Thick & Creamy Light. The noticeable lack of fruit and unpleasant, distinct bounciness of the yogurt confirmed my suspicions.
Despite the weird texure, the flavor was good and the strawberry flavor was evident. Plus there wasn't any odd aftertastes which often occurs with Splenda-sweetened yogurt.
A 6 ounce container of Yoplait Light Thick & Creamy provides 100 calories, no fat, 14 grams of sugar, 5 grams of protein, and 20% of the daily value for calcium.
A single container can be bought for $0.50 at most grocery stores, but despite the reasonable price, I'm not sure that I will be buying this again. I'll just stick with my regular Yoplait Light.
