Yoplait makes yummy yogurt (my favorites are Yoplait Light and YoPlus) and Fiber One makes cereal that's super charged with a lot of fiber and tasty too, like Fiber One Cereal with Honey Clusters. So of course I expected a collaboration between Yoplait and Fiber One to produce nothing but excellent results. Alas, I came away with mixed feelings after tasting their attempt at Vanilla Yogurt.
The Good: The texture was perfect. Smoooooth, creamy with a thick consistency. Plus there is 20% of the RDA for fiber in a 4 ounce cup.
The Bad: Please pass the water because this yogurt is way too SWEET!
The Ugly: Seems like the vanilla essence died in a battle with high fructose syrup and aspartame. I couldn't believe that I actually had to chase yogurt with water!
A 6-pack of 4-ounce cups cost $2.56. Each provides 80 calories, no fat, 4 grams of protein and 19 grams of total carbohydrate which includes 11 grams of sugar and 5 grams of fiber (20% of the RDA).
This attempt at Vanilla yogurt is just too sweet for me and I can't in good conscience waste money on this again. But I do look forward to trying the other flavors (Key Lime Pie. Strawberry and Peach) and I hope those are a little less sweet.
