I love yogurt and I love granola, and while the two mixed together are wonderful - they're not always low calorie. Breyers YoCrunch Lowfat Yogurt Peach with Granola for example, provides 220 calories and has 30 grams of sugar per 6.5 ounce serving. But YoCrunch Light is a little less caloric. Each 6 ounce serving provides 120 calories from the yogurt, 50 calories from the granola topping and 15 grams of sugars total (11 grams in the yogurt and 5 grams in the granola). I saw the Breyers YoCrunch Light Strawberry Yogurt for $1.25 at the grocery store, and decided to give it a shot.
The granola comes in a little cup on top of the yogurt, which is wonderful because that means it doesn't get soggy. The strawberry yogurt was nice and sweet without being overly so. Furthermore, it was thicker than some "light" yogurts, which made it more satisfying. The granola was deliciously crunchy and lightly sweetened, and it added a lot of texture and crunch to an already good yogurt flavor.
In addition to the 120 calories previously mentioned, each 6 ounce serving of Yogurt (only) has 1 gram of total fat, 100 mg of sodium (4% of the daily value), 6 grams of protein and 22 grams of carbohydrates which includes 11 grams of sugar and 1 gram of fiber.
The granola adds an additional 50 calories, 0.5 grams of total fat, 1% of the DV for sodium, 1 gram of protein and 11 grams of carbohydrates which includes 1 gram of fiber and 4 grams of sugars. The ingredients include the artificial sweeteners aspartame and acesulfame K.
Breyers is not really a brand of yogurt I think of often, but I really liked the Breyers YoCrunch Light Strawberry Yogurt and could see myself buying this again.
