This week is devoted to Yogurt Reviews, and I wanted to make sure to cover some dairy free alternatives, so I picked WholeSoy & Co Cherry Soy Yogurt. It's not only dairy free, but also whey & gluten free, vegan and made with organic soybeans.
The picture of the yogurt shown above doesn't show just how awful it looks. The lumpy light brown color is an instant turn off - I tried to get the kids to eat it and they flat out refused! But, I trudged on, and I'm so glad I did, because WholeSoy & Co Cherry Yogurt is actually pretty darn good - it's one sweet, tasty dairy free yogurt alternative. The texture is smooth, surprisingly thick, and the lumpy chunks of cherries present in every bite, are a treat to eat.
Each 6 ounce container of yogurt provides 170 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat (5% of the daily value), 6 grams of protein and and 19 grams of sugars. There's also 30% of the recommended daily amount for calcium. The ingredients list is relatively short & simple, and includes other organic and certified non-GMO ingredients.
WholeSoy & Co Cherry Yogurt is definitely a worthy dairy free alternative - don't be put off by what it looks like. But, as I've said with other yogurt products, 19 grams of sugars from a snack is a bit too much for me, so when I do eat yogurt, I try to skimp on the sugars in other areas.
Have you tried either this or any oter WholeSoy products?
