Am I the only person who is not really a big fan of bananas? I've never been one to eat them plain, but surprisingly I like to eat them either frozen (weird, but they taste completely different) or sliced on cereal. Another surprise is that I like when banana is used as ingredient, like in Back to Nature Banana Walnut Bakery Squares, Beech-Nut Let's Grow Strawberry Banana Yogurt Nibbles and Blue Bunny All Natural Strawberry Banana Frozen Yogurt. So, while I was looking at yogurts and flavors I hadn't yet tried, I settled on buying Dannon Light & Fit Banana Yogurt. Could be good, I thought, especially since most of the reviews of Dannon Yogurts here on Iateapie.net are mostly favorable.
Ahhhh ... my gut instincts were totally wrong on this one. I was very disappointed with flavor. As I said before, I'm not a huge fan of bananas, so if I'm saying something is not really banana-flavored, Dannon - you must have went wrong somewhere. There is a hint of banana ... like an essence somewhere lurking in the background, but it's really not strong enough.
At least the nutrition facts are on point. Like all Dannon Light & Fit yogurts, each 6-ounce cup of Dannon Light & Fit Banana Yogurt provides 80 calories, no fat or fiber, 11 grams of sugars, 5 grams of protein, 15% of the daily value for vitamin D and 20% of the DV for calcium.
The ingredients list includes the sweeteners fructose, acesulfame K and aspartame. I bought a 6 ounce container of Dannon Light & Fit Banana Yogurt for $1.25 and needless to say, I wish I had chosen a different flavor. I think Dannon could have been a bit more creative with this flavor, and amp up the taste a notch.
Overall, this is a thumbs down in my book, and I'll be sticking to Dannon Light & Fit Key Lime and Dannon Light & FIt Blackberry Yogurt. Which is your favorite flavor of Dannon Light & Fit yogurt?
