Dannon Fruit Blend Low Fat Yogurt Review
I have been living in a hotel for the past few weeks where they provide a continental breakfast every morning, with plenty of options. And every morning there is Dannon Fruit Blend Low-fat Yogurt. I'm not sure if you know it or not, but I'm a Yoplait Light girl, although I am not opposed to giving other yogurts a chance to top that. Unfortunately, Dannon Fruit Blend Low-fat yogurt is the perfect example of how "low fat" does NOT mean low calories, and in this case, it also means there's plenty of sugars to make up for the missing fat. It is low fat with only 1.5 grams of total fat and 1.0 grams of saturated fat, but there 170 calories and 30 grams of sugar in one 6 ounce container - that's like 71/2 teaspoons of sugars per serving. There is some goodness in this yogurt too, with 6 grams of protein, 20% calcium and phosphorous and 15% vitamin B12.
In terms of taste, this yogurt tastes smooth, creamy, sweet and has plenty of fruit - overall I really liked it. Although, Dannon Activia is probably my favorite of the Dannon brand of yogurt. Less sugar, and extra benefits too - since it helps you stay "regular." The worst Dannon yogurt (the worst yogurt of any brand) has to be the Carb Control yogurt. I can't believe it is still on the market - or hopefully they have improved it since I reviewed it late 2004.

Here's a tip: Get 2/3 the calories and sugar grams by buying 4 ounces of yogurt instead of 6.
Although I liked the taste of this yogurt, there are way too many other yogurts out there that provide fewer calories, less sugar and extra health benefits for me to even think about buying this. And actually, if I was even going to settle for all those calories and sugars, I would definitely go with Horizon Organic Low Fat Yogurt, because I experienced the "Wow" factor with that one.
