Ever on a quest to find cheaper plain Greek yogurt, I opted to try the Chobani brand because of the appealing package, in addition to the price, which was $1.69 for a 6 ounce container, versus Fage at $1.99 and up. I had already tried the Chobani 0% Plain Yogurt and liked it, so I decided to try the Chobani 2% Plain to compare it to Fage Total 2% Plain Yogurt.
As with Fage, I liked this better in a 2% version versus the 0% kind. It's a bit less tart, and it just tastes much richer. Plus, the calorie increase isn't very much - 130 calories compared to 100. That's a small price to pay for this delicious taste and a little bit of satiating fat. Speaking of which, each 6 ounce container of Chobani 2% Plain has just 3.5 grams of total fat, 2 grams of which is saturated (10% of the daily value). There is also 7 grams of sugars (no fiber), 17 grams of protein, and 20% of the daily value for calcium.
The ingredients are, cultured pasteurized nonfat milk and cream, in addition to five live active cultures. That's interesting - it's just the 0% with a little cream thrown in.
Again, it's not as thick as Fage Total 2% Yogurt Review, but I like it a little bit more - not to mention that it's a little bit cheaper. Do you have a preference for a certain brand of Greek yogurt?
