There have only been 2 reviews of Brown Cow yogurts here on Iateapie.net, and so far, the ratings have been pretty mediocre. But, despite my experience with the tasteless Brown Cow 0% Fat Vanilla Greek Yogurt, I was intent on giving the brand another shot. Sometimes one flavor tastes horrible, while another one shines, so I decided to try their all natural, Strawberry on the Bottom Greek Yogurt.
I checked out the ingredients list while I was in line at the store, and it definitely improved my outlook - real strawberries - oh yes! As soon as I got home the container, I stirred up the rich-looking strawberries from the bottom, and hoped for the best. I took a bite and ... delicious - color me impressed Brown Cow.
Because this is Greek yogurt, it's thicker than the regular stuff (although not as thick as Fage) and it tasted, well, real. Like real strawberries and sugar in yogurt. I guess I'm so used to artificial sweeteners that I sometimes forget what real sugar tastes like! The entire 5.3 ounce package was delicious and satiating.
Each 5.3 ounce container of Brown Cow 0% Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt provides 130 calories, no fat, 17 grams of sugars, 13 grams of protein, and 15% of the daily value for calcium. And in addition to using all natural ingredients, all Brown Cow yogurts are now certified gluten free.
The sugar count is way up there - along with some of the other 'fruity' Greek yogurts like, Chobani Pineapple 2% All Natural Greek Yogurt. I picked up a container for $2.29, but I can find this yogurt for just $1.39 - I happened to be at a store where is was much more expensive. What a nice surprise - way to go, Brown Cow!
