I was drawn to this Breyers YoCrunch Blueberry Fruit Parfait on the supermarket shelf because of the eye catching packaging design. I like how you can see the yogurt and fruity stuff on the bottom.
Breyers describes this as, "layers of delightful enjoyment. Real fruit pieces tucked under a blanket of creamy vanilla yogurt, plus yummy granola you mix in for the ideal crunch." This really amped up my anticipation and when I finally dug in, after mixing the blueberry puree with the rest of the yogurt, I was quite pleased with the taste. The yogurt was refreshing, but surprisingly not as sweet as I thought it would be. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but if you're used to sweet yogurts, be warned!
The fruit was a nice puree was touch, but it honestly didn't add anything in terms of flavor to the yogurt, but it did add textural interest when I got a piece of blueberry and granola together with the yogurt. The granola itself tastes very much like oats to me - too much so.
Each 6 ounce serving of Breyers YoCrunch Blueberry Fruit Parfait provides 170 calories and 1.5 grams of total fat - yes although the container says this is "fat free yogurt." There is no saturated fat, 2 grams of fiber, 5 grams of protein and 24 grams of sugars - very surprising since this does not taste sweet at all. The ingredients list is actually not too bad. Although this is not advertised as "all natural" there is nothing too chemically on the list - no HFCS or artificial sweeteners .
I bought this yogurt for $1.00, and world buy it again occasionally. I usually stick to low-fat, low calorie yogurts, but sometimes, you have to live a little.
