Green Giant Simply Steam Healthy Weight Vegetable Medley Review

Green Giant Simply Steam Healthy Weight Vegetables have "sliced carrots, sugar snap peas, black beans and edamame lightly tossed with butter sauce." Toss the bag in the microwave and 4 minutes later these veggies are steamed and ready to go. The veggies steamed to perfection and the flavor was outstanding thanks to the butter sauce, which left very little residue on the veggies.

Green Giant Simply Steam Healthy Weight Vegetable Mix

The edamame retained a nice crunch, the carrots and sugar snap peas were not too hard not too tender. The black beans were plentiful (too plentiful according to the review at HeatEatReview) and it did take a little getting used to because the texture is starchy and a bit different from the smooth texture of the other vegetables. But I have no complaints because there was not a bean, edamame, string bean or carrot in sight when I was done with this.

One serving of Green Giant Simply Steam Healthy Weight Vegetable Medley is half of the box and has 90 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat and 1 grams of saturated fat (4% and 6% of the recommended daily amount), 10% of the RDA for sodium (240 mg), 5 grams of protein and 14 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 3 grams of sugars and 21% of the RDA for fiber (5 grams). There is also 35% of the RDA for vitamin A.

That means that eating the whole box is 180 calories, approximately 10% of the RDA for fat, 20% of the RDA for sodium and a whopping 42% of the RDA for fiber. The fat and sodium are coming from the butter sauce that's used on the vegetables. I made dinner from these veggies and 1 chicken breast from Perdue Perfect Portions (love the convenience of taking out a single piece and knowing the weight and nutrition facts). My entire meal was 310 calories which is pretty darn good and the meal was very filling.

This was on sale at my local grocery store, 3 for $5.00, and as I'm glad I stocked up. I am not crazy about (cooked) vegetables in particular, but I eat them because I know they're good for me. This meal took me to another level and I would be more than willing to buy this again because of the flavor.
