I keep my freezer stocked with various frozen vegetables for those days times when I run out of fresh veggies. We already have quite a few reviews of Green Giant Vegetables, so I decided to a new variety, Green Giant Immunity Blend.
This mix has broccoli florets, julienne carrots and red and yellow sweet pepper strips in a garlic-herb infused extra virgin olive oil seasoning. Once I removed the bag from the box and microwaved/ steamed in the bag, one thing was clear - there was a lot of sauce. I followed the package directions and everything came out beautifully, it was tasty, crunchy and the seasoning does add some ... oomph! But there was a little too much of that oil, buttery stuff, which made it seem less nutritious than it really was.
A box contains 2 servings, each of which provides only 50 calories, 3 grams of total fat (5% of the daily value), no saturated fat, 5% of the DV for sodium, 8% of the DV for fiber, 3 grams of sugars and 1 gram of protein.
The ingredients list reads like, "Broccoli, Carrots and Red and Yellow Bell Peppers in a Sauce Containing Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Water, Salt, Garlic Powder, Spice, Monoglycerides, Xanthan Gum" - not bad at all.
Overall, I really liked this - with this stuff around, there is no excuse not to eat veggies 2x a day - with lunch and dinner. I paid $2.99 for a box of this, but Green Giant Coupons are readily available. I would definitely buy this again - although I slightly prefer Green Giant Simply Steam Baby Vegetable Medley.
