My first experience with Franklin Farms VeggiBurgers was with the Original variety. I thought it was pretty good - not necessarily wow - but it was good enough to make me pay attention, and go back for more. I decided to switch it up a little and try the Portabella Veggiburger instead of the Original. Franklin Farms Veggiburgers are gluten free and made from all-natural ingredients.
This one has a slightly heartier taste than the Original kind. Again, the flavors are not overwhelming (like some patties with flavors like Black Bean and assorted spices), but the burger is nice on its own (on a patty or on a salad). It's even better when you add something like mustard! I advise microwaving this for 45-60 seconds, then throwing it
on a pan.
Each Franklin Farms Portabella Veggiburger provides 100 calories, 2% of the daily value for total fat, 16% of the DV for sodium, 3 grams of fiber and sugar, 14 grams of protein, 15% of the DV for vitamin A, and 90% for vitamin C. Those are some pretty impressive stats, especially the fiber and protein!
The ingredients include, Vegetables (portabella mushrooms, onions, carrots, red and green peppers), water, soy flour, egg whites, isolated soy protein, natural flavors (from non-meat sources), tamari sauce (water, soybeans, salt), non-hydrogenated soy bean oil, salt, rice starch, maltodextrin, cultured dextrose, sodium alginate and ascorbic acid.
I bought the Franklin Farms Portabella Veggiburger on sale for $2.99, and like it even better than the Original. It's on my list of favorite veggie burgers.
