G2 is produced by Gatorade, who says, "G2 has the same amount of electrolytes as our original Gatorade formula, but with only 20 calories per serving. It is a low-calorie sports drink that helps athletes stay fueled for ultimate performance."
I was never really a fan of the original Gatorade, but I received a sample of G2 Grape Electrolyte Beverage, which, in my opinion is much better than the original.
The flavor is slightly sweet - a little sweeter than the usual flavored water - with a hint of grape flavor. So what's in this? Water, sucrose syrup, citric acid, salt, sodium citrate, natural and artificial flavor, monopotassium phosphate, sucralose, acesulfame K, red 40, blue 1. I really don't do any activity often enough to have the need to fuel up during the exercise - I'm only up to running about 4 miles a day - so I don't know if this helps performance.
I have to admit that I was very surprised with how much I liked this, having not been a fan of Gatorade previously. Each 20 ounce bottle provides 50 calories and 5 grams of sugars.
I've seen G2 Grape Electrolyte Beverage for $0.99 - $1.69 (20 ounce) and would definitely keep this on hand for a quick post-workout shot of fast absorbing carbs on occasion. As much as I like drinking water, sometimes a girl just needs some flavah!
