The V8 Sweet Red Pepper Soup and V8 SouthWestern Corn Soup are amazing, so I figured that it was time to test out one of their other preservative free, veggie-full varieties. That is where Campbell's V8 Garden Broccoli Soup comes in.
The smell alone would entice any broccoli lovers out there. But, heat it up (and bulk it up with some crunchy frozen broccoli) and you have got one comforting spoonful after another. The flavor is well developed, bringing broccoli to a new level. 98% of the contents within the box are water and broccoli, with less than 2% of the soup coming from a small group of contributors including dehydrated potatoes, which is what gives the soup its body. The butter, dehydrated onion, sugar, sea salt and touch of parmesan cheese really finish off this blended broccoli creation in a tasty way.
Each 1 cup serving of V8 Garden Broccoli Soup provides a mere 80 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat which includes 1 gram of saturated fat (2% & 5% of the daily value), 20% of the DV for sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 6 grams of sugar and 3 grams of protein.
The sodium content is a bit high, so this might be something to look out for. Needless to say, the $2.19 that I spent for a box of V8 Garden Broccoli Soup was anything but a waste. I will be stocking up on this variety as well as trying some others. It will be hard to go back to "canned" soups after this.
