Popcorn goes hand in hand with the life of a college student because it is the perfect thing to munch on while studying late at night. However, sometimes, if one is not eating a 100 calorie pack of popcorn, portions can go out of control. As for me, a boost of sweetness is always a plus. Hence, when I spotted SmartFood Chocolate Cookie Caramel Pecan Popcorn Clusters for the first time, I knew that I had to try them (and that name alone is a mouthful).
The packaging is very sleek and appealing. However, you will immediately notice that the individual bag is tiny. I mean pour it out in your hand....and that's it (not exactly conducive to fulfilling your munchies). I took along a little bag as a snack between classes, which turned out to be a bad idea, because after consuming your small portion, you are left with sugar coated teeth and a desire for something more. Furthermore, despite possessing such a complicated name, SmartFood Chocolate Cookie Caramel Pecan Popcorn Clusters, it's not very far from simple caramel corn. Sure there are a teeny cookie pieces dotting the popcorn clusters, but they are generally masked by the sugary coating.
Each baby 1 ounce bag of SmartFood Chocolate Cookie Caramel Pecan Popcorn Clusters provides 120 calories, 3% of the daily value for total fat, no saturated fat, 3% of the DV for sodium, 10 grams of sugar, 5 grams of fiber (21% of the DV) and less than 1 gram of protein. Each package is also fortified with a variety of vitamins and minerals. The ingredient list is short and is MSG free.
Unfortunately, I will not be buying SmartFood Chocolate Cookie Caramel Pecan Popcorn Clusters again. They tempt your sweet tooth (leaving you with a desire for more), come in mouse-sized servings and are probably 50% (or more) sugar. I paid around $3.25 for five 1 ounce "smart packs"... I am not sure how "smart" of a decision it really was.
