Health Valley Organic Red Cherry Toaster Tarts Review

Health Valley Organic Red Cherry Toaster TartsFirst of all, if you are a Nutri-grain Bar lover, kiss them goodbye because after you taste Health Valley Organic Red Cherry Toaster Tarts, they may never make it back into your grocery cart again!

The organic cherry pie filling is subtly sweet and tart at the same time, and when combined with the soft and succulent whole wheat crust, it tastes like ... cherry pie! The chewy crust is more wholesome and a bit thicker than a Nutri-grain bar, rendering it much sturdier (and slightly bigger). These organic single wrapped treats are perfect for a quick breakfast or snack on the go (though you may need to add something like fruit to boost the fiber count). However, if you are fortunate enough to have a toaster close by (and can refrain from eating the tart right after the wrapper has been removed), feel free to pop your treat in the toaster for a few minutes. The final product will be a crispier "crust" and a warm fruity filling.

The taste of Health Valley Organic Red Cherry Toaster Tarts is just phenomenal, but I was a bit worried that the nutrition facts might not stand up. Luckily, each 40 gram bar only has 150 calories, 2.5 grams of total fat (4% of the RDA), no saturated fat, 95mg of sodium (4% of the RDA), less than 1 gram of fiber (3% of the RDA), 16 grams of sugar and 2 grams of protein. The ingredient list starts with organic cherry pie filling, organic wheat flour and organic cane juice; containing just enough recognizable (and organic) ingredients to make you want to eat these tarts daily (maybe that's just me).

A box containing 6 tarts cost $3.19 on sale, which is not bad, but nothing to get too excited about. However, I have a feeling that Health Valley Organic Red Cherry Toaster Tarts will make their way into my cart more often than not! I wish that they had a little bit less sugar; but if they were to battle a cookie, a Pop Tart, cake, or Nutri-grain bars, these organic and hearty tarts would win by a landslide.
