Amy's Spinach Pizza

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say "Amy's Kitchen rocks my socks." I don't think I've ever disliked any of their products ... I even like the much maligned Amys Tofu Scramble. As much as I love Amy's though, the cost keeps me from buying this brand too often. We're talking anywhere from $4.99 to $6.00 EACH. The pizzas, however, I find to be a fairly good buy. Publix carries them for $5.19 and they're a decent size with three good sized slices each. My current favorite is the glorious Spinach Pizza.

This pizza features a wonderful chunky tomato sauce sitting atop a crispy on the outside, tender on the inside whole wheat crust, which is then topped with a blend of feta and mozzarella cheese, basil, a little onion and spinach. You can taste both the feta and the mozzarella, and though there is a lot of spinach in the topping it's not overpowering at all. Amy's pizzas aren't recommended for the microwave but take a mere 15 minutes or so to bake in the oven depending on how crispy you like your crust and how brown you like the top to be.

Truly, I have nothing negative to say about the taste of this product; the crust, the sauce and the toppings are all exceptional. Now admittedly, I am a big cooked-spinach-in-stuff kind of person, but I really think that even those of you that don't like spinach might like this pizza. Case in point: my six year old who would rather gouge her own eyes out than eat anything green, LOVES these. "Mommy, can I have some of that spinach pizza?" I feel like I'm hallucinating every time I hear her say those words - who are you and what have you done with my child?!

Each Amy's Spinach Pizza contains three servings at 310 calories each, along with 12 grams of fat, 4 grams of which are saturated (bth are 20% of the daily value). A little high on the fat front but it is pizza with cheese after all. Each slice also provides 590 mg of sodium (25% of the DV), 12 grams of protein and 38 grams of carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of fiber (8% of the RDA) and 4 grams of sugars. There is also significant amounts of Vitamin A (30% RDA) and calcium (20% RDA).

71% of the ingredients are organic and according to their website, "Amy's Kitchen cartons are made from unbleached boards with no poly coating on the inside and clay coating on the outside. These cartons are recyclable at most recycling facilities."

From the ingredients to the taste, I have to give this 2 thumbs up 2 thumbs up.
