Fiber Gourmet Macaroni and Cheese is out of this world good ans so is the Fiber Gourmet Light Fettuccine Nests with flavors like chocolate, spinach, garlic parsley and Cajun. Eager to try something else, I decided to review the Fiber Gourmet Light Penne Pasta. I cooked the pasta according to package instructions (6-10 minutes in boiling water), and ate some plain to get a sense of the taste.
Mmmm
. I really loved this stuff - my pasta turned out perfectly al dente, and it was hearty without being too chewy. I then added pasta sauce, and found that the pasta soaked up the sauce very well and a delicious meal ensued.
The ingredients are, Durum Semolina Flour, Modified Wheat Starch, Wheat Gluten, so this is not a whole wheat pasta, but there is still 18 grams of fiber, which is 72% of the daily value.
Each 2-ounce (56 gram) serving of Fiber Gourmet Light Penne Pasta also provides 130 calories, 1 gram of total fat (no saturated or trans), 5% of the daily value for sodium, 2 grams of sugars, 7 grams of protein, and 10% of the DV for iron. Most pasta we have reviewed has around 200 calories per 2 ounce serving.
My sample was a free sample provided by the company, but I would willingly pay the $3.99 I saw it for at the grocery store. This is definitely a simple & delicious way to lighten up a pasta dish.
