I saw Seneca Farms Oatmeal & Fruit Vanilla Peach in the grocery store as I was looking to replenish my oatmeal stash. There come in small containers, ready to just heat and eat - no need to add water or anything else.
The directions read, vent plastic lid slightly and warm for 45 seconds before eating, which is exactly what I did. I could see bits of peaches in thick oatmeal, and everything looked in order. I took a spoonful and the texture was what is expected - not too soft or muchy - but the taste is just ... GROSS! It's tart and bitter-ish - oatmeal is not supposed to taste like this!
The ingredients are, water, diced peaches, thick cut oats, pear juice concentrate, sugar, lactic acid, natural flavor, ascorbic acid (vitamin C), citric acid, salt.
Each 1 cup serving of Seneca Farms Vanilla Peach Oatmeal provides 180 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat, 2 grams of fiber and protein plus 22 grams of sugars. I paid $2.49 for a pack which comes with 2 containers - and that was money wasted. The ingredients list is impressive, but not the amount of sugars or the taste; and really, it's not that difficult to make instant oatmeal. I'm sticking with BetterOats Oat Heads Berry Blast Instant Oatmeal with Flax (Review) or McCann's Sugar Free Cinnamon Roll Instant Oatmeal (Review) - and there are so many other options in our Oatmeal & Hot Cereal.
