Lately, I've been crushing on BetterOats Instant Oatmeal - loved the BetterOats Oat Heads Berry Blast Instant Oatmeal with Flax (Review) and BetterOats mmm ... Blueberry Muffins Old Fashioned Instant Oatmeal (Review) . A few days ago, I picked up a different variety to try out - the BetterOats Oat Revolution Instant Oatmeal with Flax (Apples & Cinnamon).
The description on the website reads, "It starts with all natural 100% whole grain oats. We then add heart healthy antioxidants and flax, a good source of Omega-3, and top it all off with a bold shot of flavor and real apple pieces. All combine to create a delicious oatmeal that keeps its rich, robust flavor all the way to your bowl. Take one bite and start your Oat Revolution!"
And I agree with them wholeheartedly. It's called "Apples & Cinnamon" and yes, you can taste and see little apple pieces all throughout the oatmeal, and the cinnamon flavor is present and accounted for as well. The texture is perfect, not too soft or mushy if you follow the directions - empty the pouch contents, then add water to the fill line of the pouch, and pour that water into the bowl with oatmeal. Microwave for 90 seconds, and you're in business. The only thing I did differently was add more water, because it's a little sweet, and because filling with water to the line doesn't give me enough oatmeal for a filling breakfast.
Each pouch of BetterOats Oat Revolution Instant Oatmeal with Flax (Apples & Cinnamon) provides 130 calories from 2 grams of total fat, 3 grams of fiber (12% of the daily value). 12 grams of sugars and 3 grams of protein. There is also 20% of the daily value for vitamin A, E, and the B vitamins. The ingredients are whole grain rolled oats, sugar, diced apple pieces, flaxseed, natural flavor, salt, guar gum, cinnamon, citric acid. It also provides 230 mg of ALA omega 3 per serving, which is 14% of the 1.6 gram daily value for ALA.
I purchased a box with 5 pouches for $1.50 - and would definitely buy it again - it's my favorite variety of the 3 I've tried so far.
