My fist foray into Snickers Marathon Bar left me rather disappointed after finding the Snickers Marathon Nutrition Bar (Honey & Toasted Almond) flavor pretty unpalatable. But when I saw a Dark Chocolate flavor, I was willing to give this brand another chance. Plus, my friend Rachel had told me that the Snickers Marathon Nutrition Bar in Crunchy Dark Chocolate was really good. I picked up a 44.2 gram bar for $1.89 at the grocery store.
Like the Honey & Toasted Almond flavor, this one was composed of a protein meshwork and dipped in chocolate. It smelled great (I can't resist dark chocolate), and dug in right away. This flavor, unlike the other one, was DELICIOUS. Despite the fact that the name made no mention of it, I was sure that this bar contained peanuts. Sure enough, when I flipped it over, peanuts were an ingredient! I'm a sucker for the dark chocolate + peanut combination, and this was a great mix of the two flavors.
Nutritionally, this is better than a regular Snickers bar (although the texture is different, so you won't be fooled). Each Snickers Marathon Dark Chocolate Crunch Nutrition Bar provides 150 calories, 7% and 10% of the daily value for total and saturated fat, 7 grams of fiber, 9 grams of sugar, and 11 grams of protein. Additionally, there are a slew of vitamins and minerals in this self-proclaimed nutrition bar.
This flavor was on point, and the fact that there is a decent amount of protein and fiber for a reasonable amount of calories, makes the Snickers Marathon Nutrition Bar (Dark Chocolate Crunch) one that I will happily buy again. I can't believe I would ever be saying this about something with the name Snickers!
