I've seen Oskri Bars in various grocery stores, but never bought one before - until now, that is. I was attracted to the Oskri Cashew Bar which is gluten free and (more importantly for me), lactose free, vegan and Kosher; plus it's made without refined sugars. The price was $1.69 per bar, which is about what I pay for most other bars (when they're not on sale).
I looked at the ingredients first and was very impressed with the simplicity of them. Each 43-gram bar contains 24% cashew, 22% rice syrup, 13% dried cranberries, 13% pumpkin seeds, 10% honey, 10% buckwheat, 4% amaranth, and 4% crisp rice. Each bar also provides only 160 calories, 4% of the daily value for total fat, 5% of the DV for sodium, 3 grams of fiber, 13 grams of sugar, and 4 grams of protein.
I couldn't wait any longer. With the nutrition facts on point along with the ingredients, I wanted nothing more than to take a big bite. When I unwrapped the bar, it was sticky enough for me to know that there was would be some serious (but hopefully not overpowering) sweetness going on. I took a bite and the first flavor that hit me was cashews. Mmmm. The honey and rice syrup added nice, natural sweetness; the nuts and seeds were crunchy; and the dried cranberries added an element of chewiness.
The Oskri Cashew Bar was delicious. I finished it way too quickly and made a resolution to try the other varieties in addition to buying this one again - I'm a newfound Oskri fan!
