After trying Kashi TLC Pumpkin Pie Fruit & Grain Bar and loving their unique texture and flavor profile, I decided to branch out and try a different variety of the gooey, yet chewy Kashi TLC Fruit & Grain Bars; this time, I reached for the Raspberry Chocolate variety.
Ooh Kashi, this bar is delicious. The raspberry puree and semi-sweet chocolate complement one another perfectly! The unique texture can't be matched. The three distinct layers of almonds, cocoa/raspberry fruit spread and whole grain base immediately meld together with each bite, creating a sweet & gooey, yet substantial mouth feel. It's as if the gummy, yet firm fruit layer encases the hearty oat base, softening it a bit. I would go as far as comparing it (albeit with a bit of stretch of the imagination) to a bite of cherry pie (similar to how the pie filling enhances the crust). But, similar to my first experience with these Kashi TLC Fruit & Grain Bars, this also does not "travel well" thanks to the soft fruit topping that makes up about 1/3 of the bar - if it's hot (as it is often here in Texas), you'll end up with a sticky, gooey mess on your fingers, mouth and clothes.
Each tasty 32 gram Kashi TLC Raspberry Chocolate Fruit & Grain Bar provides 120 calories, 5% & 3% of the daily value for total and saturated fat, 4 grams of fiber (16% of the DV), 7 grams of sugar and 4 grams of protein. The all natural ingredient list is als0 short & sweet.
I paid $2.88 for a box of 6 Kashi TLC Raspberry Chocolate Fruit & Grain Bars and I think they are some of the best bars on the shelf for reeling in your uncontrollable sweet tooth (not for portability, though). I was totally bummed to hear that Kashi is no longer making this - and my stash is getting low! I hope Kashi brings this back as a seasonal item at least.
