Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond Bar had me at hello! The second that I read those three works ... dark, mocha, almond; the $3.00 box was in my grocery cart.
The bar is hearty and substantial, with no gooiness in sight; which some may interpret as being a bit dry. Personally, I enjoy the hearty nature of these bars. There are large hunks of almonds dispersed throughout the oat-dominated base and the entire bar has a chocolate hue. As an added bonus, a generous amount of dark chocolate chips adorn the top of the aromatic bar. The chocolate mocha flavor is reminiscent of a beverage from your favorite coffee house and is anything, but overpowering. Overall, this bar is comparable to a homemade granola bar because it feels so wholesome and minimally processed.
Much to my surprise, the fat content is fairly low for all of the nutty, chocolaty goodness that is going on. Each 35 gram Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond Bar provides a mere 130 calories, 3.5 grams of total fat & 0.5 grams of saturated fat (5% & 3% of the RDA), no cholesterol, 90 mg of sodium (4% of the RDA), 4 grams of fiber (15% of the RDA), 6 grams of sugar & 6 grams of protein. The ingredient list is shorter than expected and contains only all natural ingredients and substantial whole grains (more details on this can be found at Kashi's website).
Kashi should be proud of their new creation. Kashi TLC Dark Mocha Almond Bar is made for people like me, with a sweet tooth but without too much sugar. 6 grams of sugar is a lot less than I thought it would have (they don't use artificial sweeteners or sugar alcohols), but this bar is not that big. Still, this is one of my favorite Kashi bars to date. And at around $3.00 for a box of 6, you can bet I'll be buying these again.
