Honestly, this bar stayed in my pantry for quite a while before I tried it. But I'm so glad I 're-discovered' this bar. When I opened the wrapper, I was surprised to see a thick chocolate bar - not just a chocolate coating. When I broke open the bar to check it out, I could see some of the green stuff dispersed throughout. The taste was good, but ... different. This looked like a thick chocolate bar through and through. Except, it wasn't really sweet. It was firm but chewy, and while I couldn't detect any peanut butter AT ALL or chocolate, I enjoyed the bar and more importantly, it sustained me for about 2 hours until dinner.
Each big 59 gram bar provides 260 calories, 12 grams of total fat which includes 5 grams of saturated fat (18% and 22% of the daily value), 2 grams of fiber, 18 grams of sugars and 16 grams of protein. This bar is higher in calories and fat than the Peanut Butter flavor (read the review).
The ingredients list is quite wholesome, starting with organic peanut butter - which would account for the fat, but it's weird that I didn't taste any peanut butter. The primary sweetener is agave, which makes this a low glycemic bar. I purchased this for $1.99 on sale, and while I liked the flavor, I don't think that I want almost 1/4 of the daily value of the saturated fat from a bar - although this has less fat than Balance Gold Rocky Road Protein Bar Review, but I think I'll stick to Chocolite Protein Bars.
