Calling all chewy foods fanatics out there, Fiber One Oats & Strawberries with Almonds Bar was made especially for you. Thanks to the gooey combining agent and plump fruit pieces, the texture of this bar is easily described as ... (you guessed it), Chewy,
Occasionally, you will also encounter a bundle of crisp rice within that evokes memories of Rice Krispie Treats, and thin slivers of almonds that add a subtle crunch. I love that there is a small drizzle of chocolate gracing the top of the chewy mound, but I probably would not notice if it was missing (and it would most likely bring down the fat count a bit). Furthermore, the bar has a delicately sweet, strawberry taste that made me go mmm.
Each Fiber One Oats & Strawberries with Almonds Bar provides 140 calories in the substantial 40 gram bar, an extra high fiber count (35% of the RDA), relatively low sugar count (9 grams) considering the enjoyable sweetness contained in each bite, pretty low in sodium (only 90 mg or 4% of the RDA), rather low in fat (3 grams of fat including 0.5 grams of saturated fat...5% and 4% of the RDA) and 2 grams of protein.
The ingredient list contains chicory root extract, rolled oats, natural strawberry flavored fruit pieces, crisp rice, high maltose corn syrup, barley flakes, almond pieces, honey and a few scientific names that you don't hear every day, but for the most part it's short and (not too) sweet.
Not a big strawberry fan? Try Fiber One Oats and Chocolate Bar, which is basically the Siamese twin of this delicious strawberry flavor (in other words, it's really good). A box with 5 Fiber One Oats & Strawberries with Almonds Bars cost me $2.50, and it was well worth it.
