Chocolite says, "Finally a delicious moist protein bar with 1/3 fewer calories & twice the fiber! Four layers, protein, caramel, nuts & chocolate." With a description like that, you know I had to try Chocolite Protein Chocolate Turtle Protein Bar. These 37 gram bars also have no sugar added and are gluten-free.
I unwrapped my bar and found it to be smaller than many other protein bars; then again, how much can you ask for in a lower-calorie product? And don't be fooled by the package - the Chocolite Chocolate Turtle Protein Bar does not have crunchy nut on the outside ... because those nuts are contained in another layer of chocolate on the bar! Needless to say, I was surprised to open the bar and discover this as I had been expecting something more like a Kashi GoLean! Roll.
I bit in and enjoyed the mix of chewy caramel, crunchy nuts, and sweet chocolate. None of it tasted artificial, although the chewiness was something I noticed right away. I liked that feature though as it made the bar seem to last longer.
Each Chocolite Protein Chocolate Turtle Protein Bar provides 115 calories, 10% of the daily value for total & saturated fat, 90 mg of sodium, 42% of the daily value for fiber, 1 gram of sugar, 4 grams of sugar alcohols and 9 grams of protein. The ingredients list doesn't reveal anything too sinister - for those of you not into HFCS, there is none.
These bars are available online at the HealthSmart website, for $1.49 each or a little cheaper at Netrition.com. For such a small bar, this definitely packs quite a nutrition punch - although I might have to eat 2 to be satisfied, i would buy this again.
