I have a new love in the land of salty, crunchy treats, and that love is Popchips. I've seen these in the grocery and with flavors like Original, Barbecue, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Salt & Pepper, and Parmesan Garlic, they sounded delicious. I finally caved today and picked up a bag of the Original Popchips for $1.29.
Popchips is all naural, and they say, "Never Fried. Never Baked." So how the heck do they do it?!
We came up with a chip like no snack aisle has seen (or taste bud has tasted). That's because we found a way to pop all the flavor in while keeping fake stuff and more than half the fat of fried chips out. Thanks to the magic of popped. Popping is a way of making our all-natural chips. We start with the finest ingredients, add a little heat and pressure, along with a little snack magic. And pop! It's a chip.
All I can say is, yum
! These chips are like Glenny's Sea Salt Spud Delites in that they're light and crispy, but these are a bit more substantial. They're delicious and salty, the perfect combination of baked goodness and hefty crunch.
Each 1 ounce serving of about 22 chips provides 120 calories, 12% of the DV for sodium (260 mg) and 1 gram of each fiber and protein. The sodium content is a little high, considering Baked Lays Potato Chips has half that amount (but is not as delicious).
The ingredients are simply, Natural potato ingredients (potato flour, potato starch), safflower oil and/or sunflower oil, rice flour, sea salt, and soy lecithin. What great ingredients!
I will most definitely be buying these again, preferably in bulk (like on Amazon.com where it's $20.40 for a 24 pack). I plan on trying the other flavors too - the Parmesan Garlic one is quite intriguing! These get a big thumbs up from me
!
