Trident Xtra Care is a gum that is advertised to "strengthen and rebuild your teeth." It contains Recaldent, a (lactose-free) milk-derived product aimed to accomplish that very purpose. I've tried a couple of the minty flavors, but only recently have I seen the Cool Citrus variety in stores. I picked up a pack, which was a bit more expensive than other brands of chewing gum at $1.59 - but hopefully worth it.
The Cool Citrus flavor is pretty great. This gum is incredibly juicy and delicious, and the citrus is nice but not too strong. That said, the flavor is wonderful for only about 10-15 minutes. That's right, this gum loses its flavor in less time than it takes me to watch the new episode of The Office. What a disappointment! I go for Stride Gum 90% of the time because of its long-lasting flavor, and this only reinforces that choice.
Each piece of this gum has 3.5 calories and 1 gram of sugar alcohol. The ingredients include, sorbitol, gum base, mannitol, xylitol, glycerin, natural and artificial flavoring, and less than 2% of acesulfame potassium, aspartame, BHT, calcium casein
peptone-calcium phosphate, red 40, soy lecithin, sucralose, yellow 5, yellow 5 lake, yellow 6, and yellow 6 lake. That's a lot of artificial ingredients, but it's pretty standard for an artificially-sweetened gum.
Bottom line: this is expensive, and given that the flavor doesn't last a really long time, I'll probably skip it in the future.
