Extra Island Cooler Fruit Sensations (Sugar Free) Gum Review

If you have ever watched The Biggest Loser, then you have undoubtedly seen Extra Gum exploited as a waistline friendly treat to lead you away from that cupcake of a temptation. While I am not sure that Extra gum suffices for all sweet temptations, I do agree that gum is a nice thing to have around when your sweet tooth is as big as mine. As a matter of fact, I am rarely without some of the chewy stuff. Therefore, when I saw Extra Island Cooler Fruit Sensations, I decided to give it a go.

Let me preface this review by helping you to understand my view on gum. See, I think that all gum, when you chew it long enough, will either turn into a hard rubbery substance or a mushy mess that begins to dissolve in your mouth ... it's only a matter of time. Extra Gum follows suit of the latter mushy mess description, which is the least appealing to my taste buds.

The flavor, however, is sensational (as the name implies) with an intriguing combination of pineapple, orange and citrus, with a hint of melon thrown in for good measure. Of course, if you are against artificial sweeteners, this is not the treat for you. However, if you are a member of the "everything in moderation club", you will be glad to know that each piece of gum will only set you back 5 calories (you probably burn those calories by simply chewing it).

Overall, Extra Island Cooler Fruit Sensations Gum provides a nice flavor profile to switch it up from the traditional berry and minty gum varieties, but just be sure to spit it out before it goes downhill.

I paid $0.99 for a pack of this gum, which is about standard. Unfortunately, I won't be buying this one again - I would rather stick to Orbit Pina Colada (Sugar Free) Gum if I want a fruit flavored chewing gum.
