5 Sugar Free Gum (Solstice) Review

5 Sugar Free Gum is a product of Wrigley - aren't they like the granddaddy of chewing gum companies?! Anyway, they describe 5 Gum as a, "groundbreaking sugar-free stick gum ... that delivers long-lasting flavor and a unique sensory experience with each flavor." Well, that wasn't my experience with the "Rain" (spearmint) flavor, but I decided to give it another shot and picked up the 5 Solstice Gum.

Solstice is described as "a warm and cool winter." My interpretation of that is basically a slightly sweet peppermint flavor. Because I don't really a full on assault of peppermint in all its glory, this was welcome news to me. The 5 Solstice gum is amazingly juicy, and the minty refreshing flavor lasts for a while (though not as long as Stride). Each long-lasting and satisfying piece of gum provides only 5 calories and 2 grams of sugar alcohols.

The ingredients include sorbitol, gum base, glycerol, mannitol, natural and artificial flavors, and less than 2% of hydrogenated starch hydrolysate, aspartame, acesulfame K, soy lecithin, BHT, and colors, which is pretty much what's found in most sugar-free chewing gums.

I bought a pretty expensive pack of 5 Solstice for $1.89, although I'm sure I probably could find it cheaper, and I would buy this again. Isn't it weird how a brand can have one tasty flavor like this 5 Solstice gum, and yet another flavor can be a dud, like 5 Rain?!
