Perdue Perfect Portions Chicken Breasts Review

Reviewed by Tanya Jackson | Feb 8, 2008

Perdue Perfect Portions ChickenPerdue Perfect Portions are boneless, skinless chicken breasts that are sold in a package with 6 individually wrapped 4.8 ounce portions. All the single and 2 family households thank you Perdue for making our lives a little easier. The chicken breasts are clearly lean, and the nutrition facts are provided for each portion. That's the real beauty of this product, because of course you could buy a pack of chicken and individually portion it into ziplock bags yourself, but then you would also have to weigh each piece and then calculate the nutrition facts yourself.

Another thing I loved about Perdue Perfect Portions is that they have some pre-seasoned options available, like Tomato Basil, Teriyaki, Roasted Garlic with White Wine, Italian Style and Herb and Pepper, plus you can also buy it sans seasoning. Check out Epicurious for some recipes. I see they have attempted to replicate my World famous baked herb-crusted chicken breasts (well maybe mine isn't "World" famous - but it's famous in my house), and this is a simple easy recipe to try if you're just statrting to cook (or want to impress your girlfriend/ boyfriend with a beautifully cooked and tasty meal for Valentines Day).

One individually wrapped un-seasoned chicken breast from Perdue Perfect Portions is 4.8 ounces and provides 130 calories (140 - 160 if it is pre-seasoned), 1.5 grams of total fat, no saturated fat, 27% of the recommended daily amount for cholesterol, 15% of the RDA for sodium (350 mg), no carbohydrates and 29 grams of protein. The nutrition facts for all the varieties can be found at their website, along with some recipes like for the Chicken with Tomatoes and Polenta shown in the picture.

This convenience comes at a price of $7.86 for the package with 6 portions (chicken breasts are expensive in general). These should definitely be added to the grocery list though because we all get really busy sometimes and this will at lease give us a home cooked meal in 20 minutes. Unfortunately for you folks that don't live in the Mid-West, Southeast or Eastern US - I think that means you guys out West - Perdue Perfect Portions is not yet available in your area.
