My sandwich obsession led me to start SandwichYum. and that same obsession has me paying closer attention to food products that I can use to make sandwiches. That's how I came across Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Smoked Turkey Breast.
This is described on their website as, "Fresh-tasting and flavorful ... makes any sandwich spectacular ... you just can't top this tasty turkey!" And, I quite agree - although I don't think this turkey will make a sandwich spectacular - more like a combination of various ingredients. Still, there is no doubt that Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Smoked Turkey Breast will make you something to good to eat.
Each 51 gram serving (close to 2 ounces), will provide 45 calories from 8 grams of protein - but also 460 mg of sodium (19% of the daily value).
The ingredients are Turkey Breast, Water, Modified Corn Starch Contains Less Than 2% Of Sodium Lactate, Salt, Sugar, Sodium Phosphates, Carrageenan, Potassium Chloride, Sodium Diacetate, Sodium Ascorbate, Sodium Nitrite. I purchased a 9oz container for $3.99 at my local supermarket, which is not a bad deal since it usually costs me $6.99 for a pound of turkey (Black Bear) from the deli. Still, I don't know what it is, but the turkey from the deli seems more robust and not sliced as thinly as this Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Smoked Turkey Breast. So while I might buy OM occasionally, I probably will still be spending that extra $1.00 on the turkey from the deli.
What say you? Turkey from the deli counter - or do you buy the pre-packaged stuff?
