When I saw Disney Magic Selections Sugar Free In An Instant Chocolate Malt Milk Mix (try saying that five times fast) at the grocery store, I had to try it. Further adding to my excitement was the fact that this milk addition came in single-serving packets, which is something I absolutely love - a portable chocolate milk-maker? Sign me up! I picked up a 10-serving box for $2.00 (on sale from $2.49), eager to try it when I got home.
Call me crazy, but one of the best parts about this drink mix is the fact that it features Timon and Pumba from The Lion King on the front; there's nothing like a throwback to my childhood to get me to try a product. I poured myself a cup of soy milk and added one stick, stirring and eagerly anticipating what I was in store for. I took a sip, assessing the flavor; I was impressed. The flavor was pretty much exactly like a liquid version - sweet and chocolatey. I did add it to vanilla soymilk, but I imagine the taste would be similar with regular milk as well (the sticks are plenty sweet all by themselves).
Each packet of Disney Magic Selections Sugar Free In An Instant Chocolate Malt Milk Mix provides 5 calories, no fat, sodium, or sugar (it also has no protein or fiber). What each packet does have, however, is a 10% - 20% of added vitamins and minerals.
I'll definitely be buying more of these packets when I can find them (I bought them at a Ralph's in California, but hopefully I can find them here in New York too). I'll be adding this not only to milk, but probably to yogurt and other foods for a guilt-free, chocolate malt twist.
