Purely Juice Pomegranate Juice Review

Rating:

Purely Juice Pomegranate JuiceIf you haven't heard about antioxidants being good for your health, you are probably living without television, radio and an internet connection. Pomegranate juice seems to be one of the most popular sources with the brand POM Wonderful leading the charge [read the review]. I think it's probably due to the sexy bottle shape - but that's just my own personal belief. Unfortunately, POM is almost $4.00 for a 16 ounce bottle, and that pretty much prices me out of the market. But POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice is not the only pomegranate juice in town. Sure it has a cute design, but it is very expensive and alternatives must be found! Enter, Purely Juice Pomegranate Juice. It's 100% pomegranate juice (from concentrate) and tastes pretty darn good. It's sweet with a hint of tartness - actually, it taste identical to POM and I suspect, to most other 100% pomegranate juices.

One 16 ounce bottle of Purely Juice Pomegranate Juice is $2.69. One serving is (8 fluid ounces) is half the container and has 150 calories and 30 grams of sugars (4 grams less than POM). One bottle is therefore 300 calories and 60 grams of sugars - you are looking at about 15 tespoons of sugars. But because it is 100% juice, you are getting those antioxidants that you crave so much that you are spending $3.00 on a bottle of this stuff. Still, it is cheaper than POM, same juice, erego, I am buying this over POM.

I still believe in drinking fruit juices for their health benefit, even though some people have started jumping on the "no 100% fruit juice bandwagon" - calories and sugar be damned! I take one week a month and drink juice and water. It is usually an antioxidant rich juice like pomegranate, acai or blueberry, and cranberry juice (ladies, hopefully you know about the role of cranberry juice in helping to prevent urinary tract infections). I still think pomegranate juices are quite expensive, but hopefully we will see a decline in prices as the popularity of these drinks increase.
