Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream Review

Rating:

Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice CreamOne of the ways I am still able to enjoy ice cream as a treat is that I get the lower calorie and fat "slow churned" varieties. When I see a flavor I haven't tried before, I'm all over it, and that's how a tub of Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream ended up in my grocery cart. With the claim of half the fat and 25% fewer calories than regular ice cream, I was hopeful that the ice cream would be able to maintain a balance between deliciousness and healthiness.

The ice cream had a sweet and creamy texture similar to that of regular ice cream. I appreciated the lightness of it which didn't leave me excessively full. It would have been even better to have more pecans in the ice cream, but the pecans that were there really enhanced the butter pecan flavor.

A 1/2 cup serving of Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream has 120 calories, 5 grams of fat, 2 grams of which are saturated (10% of the daily value), 105 milligrams of sodium (4% of the DV), 2 grams of protein and 16 grams of carbohydrates which includes 12 grams of sugars.

A 1.5 quart container normally costs $5.79 at Kroger which is a bit much for this classic type of ice cream, so I usually only buy it when it is on sale. However, I appreciate the combination of good taste and low fat in an ice cream. Breyers Double Churn Butter Pecan Ice Cream is definitely a better choice than regular ice cream - Haagen Dazs Butter Pecan Ice Cream will set you back 310 calories per 1/2 cup!
