Breyers Double Churn French Chocolate Fat Free Ice Cream Review
Are you the adventurous type when it comes to ice cream? The type that is always trying out new flavors? Or do you stick the tried and true? I'm the former, always intrigued by different flavors of ice cream and especially curious when it's lower in calories and fat. Breyers Double Churn French Chocolate Fat Free Ice Cream sounded yummy, so it got picked to be my flavor of the week.
Since this ice cream was fat free, my expectations on taste weren't too high, but I ended up really liking it. I don't know what makes the flavor French chocolate since the ingredients look the same as other (fat free) chocolate ice cream, but it's definitely tastes chocolaty with a mild sweetness and lots of creaminess. The light texture left me feeling refreshed and not weighted down like the heavier ice creams on the market.

Each 1/2 cup serving of Breyers Double Churn French Chocolate Fat Free Ice Cream provides 90 calories from 3 grams of protein and 22 grams of carbohydrates which includes 4 grams of fiber and 13 grams of sugars. There is no fat, or cholesterol, and 55 milligrams of sodium (more details on ingredients & nutrition facts can be found at Breyers.com). Not bad ice creams stats! One thing to note about the ingredients - this is "fat free ice cream" so don't expect to just see milk, sugar & cocoa like the Breyers Natural Chocolate Ice Cream. Instead, there is a mixture of gums & some names you might not be familiar with which help make the fat free version 50 calories less - per 1/2 cup serving (so 100 calories less if your serving is more like 1 cup).
A 1.5 quart container normally costs $5.79 at Kroger, but it was on sale for $2.99 when I purchased it. This ice cream tastes great, especially for a fat free variety and the fiber was unexpected but still welcome. The regular price is a little steep, but since it rocked the taste and nutrition facts, I will definitely be buying Breyers Double Churn French Chocolate Fat Free Ice Cream again
