I usually pass over any Klondike or Haagen Daazs Ice Cream products, because although I know the taste is probably delightfully delicious, they are just way too rich in saturated fat (and calories and sugars) for my blood. But, since the description on the Klondike Choco Taco wrapper read, reduced fat vanilla ice cream, I decided to give it a go and see what it was all about - plus it only cost $1.00.
The first thing I did was look at the nutrition facts. Each 85 gram Klondike Choco Taco provides 290 calories, 23% of the daily value for total fat and 55% of the DV for saturated fat! There is also 24 grams of sugars, 1 gram of fiber and 4 grams of protein.

Of course - the taste is delish! The "taco shell" is the same as a sugar cone - only in a taco shell shape - and in the middle is some smooth creamy ice cream, covered on top by a crispy hardened chocolate fudge layer. Not too sweet mind you, but just right!
I don't know why they couldn't have made with this with less saturated fat, but they threw just about every food ingredient you've ever read about into this. The list starts out with nonfat milk, followed by chocolate sauce (corn syrup, high fructose corn syrup, water, cocoa...), then sugar .. more HFCS ... partially hydrogenated vegetable oil etc.
I don't like to be negative - that's kind of why I don't post in the DietTrash section anymore - but that's solidly where this belongs. Go grab you a Fudgsicle 100 Calorie Ice Cream Bar or Blue Bunny Orange Dream Bar (if those are still around).
And here's how I take off points for the nutrition rating because you guys ask (out of 5): -1 for way too much saturated fat, -1/2 for too much total fat (maybe should be -1), -1 for partially hydrogenated oil, -1/2 for the ingredients list being just a wee bit too crappy, and -1/2 for luring me in with the "reduced fat" on the label. And the "overall" score is not an average: In this case I feel the crappy nutrition facts outweighs taste & anything else, so it almost counts doubly against the other scores.
