I simply cannot do without ice cream in my life. I love it, but I know that I need to keep my needs inder control. That's pretty hard to do if you love it as much as I do, so thank goodness for ice cream bars - they are perfect for portion control. So, when I saw these Skinny Cow CHOCOLATE Covered Ice Cream Bars (aka Skinny Dippers) I was especially excited, since I am already in love with the Skinny Cow Low Fat Ice Cream Sandwiches.
I tried the Vanilla & Mint flavors, and when I took out my first bar, it looked quite promising since ¾ of the bar was covered in chocolate. The chocolate tasted like chocolate should (really yummy) in both bars, but for the Vanilla flavor, the vanilla "ice cream" was a weak watered down version. It was almost like eating soft snow covered in chocolate. The Mint version was slightly better, but the overall flavor was still bland and I was not very impressed.
Overall, one Skinny Dipper has 80 calories, 3 grams of total fat and 2 grams of saturated fat (5% and 10% of the RDA), 1% of the RDA for sodium (30 mg), 2 grams of protein and 11 grams of total carbohydrates which includes 2 grams of fiber and 7 grams of sugar. A box of 6 bars cost $4.99 from my local grocery store.
Although the nutrition facts are quite satisfactory, for me, the bland taste is not worth the 80 calories, since for 20 calories more, I could have been eating a Healthy Choice Fudge Bar (and those are AMAZINGLY delicious).
